Usage
The Medusa's Eye is not to be viewed directly within Fifty Meters under any circumstances. The object should be dropped no less than Fifty Meters from its containment box away to ensure the maximum safety of personnel.
Deployment of the object may be ordered by any BETA Personnel members, following the filling out of the proper request forms, which may then be approved by ALPHA Personnel. Request forms must be filled out before the retrieval and usage of the object.
Once deployed, anyone with a direct view of the object and/or anyone directly viewing live footage of the item will be turned to stone. The usage of this object is typically meant to be used as a prelude to Chaos Insurgency operations regarding hostile Groups of Interest, (e.g. the SCP Foundation, Global Occult Coalition, etc.) After the item is successfully executed, it is to be recovered via two proper Item Retrieval Operatives.
When the object is deployed into action, it must not be removed from its locker until deployment. For transportation, the storage locker is to be placed in a standard Chaos Insurgency-owned Lockheed U2 reconnaissance plane's cargo bay for transportation.
Once the object is placed in the field, personnel must wait at least one hour until item recovery in order to ensure maximum success against enemy security systems and personnel. Once finished, two low-level Item Retrieval Operatives will place the object back in its containment locker utilizing mirrors to see the object.
Report
The Medusa's eye is a purple sphere 15.24 cm in diameter, with a faint indigo light emanating from the object at a very dim 100 lumen. When viewed directly or through live video feed, the viewers will be turned into marble stone. When the object is not in use, it is to be contained in a standard storage container. No video feed is permitted within the containment cell.
Anomalous effects typically take place between 0.5 seconds to 3 seconds after looking at the object, and petrification of the viewer(s) will quickly occur, fully petrifying them in under 30 seconds. In extreme events, the object has proven capable of petrifying other certain anomalous creatures.
The object will, no matter what conditions it is placed in, remain at a temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, (21.1 degrees Celsius).
