Item Reports
Review
The Chaos Insurgency Item Report is a form of article in the wiki that uses the CII Format, practically analogous in use to the SCP format employed by the SCP Foundation wiki. While it shares the general gist of the latter's SCP articles, the CII Report has a style, structure, tone and feel that must differ from them. Its design has varied over the years. The current version, distinguished by the 'info-box' on top of the article, and the large section headers, is shown at the end of this post.
Right now, the Wiki is trying to change the standards of how we portray Item Reports. I, myself, have been writing (and re-writing) my Item articles to reflect a change in tone and personality with the CI Wiki. This is in line with the Review started last year, where new standards were planned.
The greatest differences between SCP articles and the Wiki's CII format, aside from layout, is the purpose. SCP's are documents meant in-universe for research and study on anomalous phenomena. Out of universe, SCP Wiki article writers must also create a good story for them to succeed.
On the other hand, CII reports focus on the utility and potential of anomalies as helpful assets, written without the relative moral restrictions of the Foundation. It can trade in writing about chemical compositions and material analysis for tangible qualities, like 'how much steel can an acid burn through', or 'how much blood can this Item's sword collect given it slices through three people?'. To this end, Item articles might even forgo most of research data for the sake of giving us a physical image of its effect on other things.
There's a reason we have 'Usage' instead of a 'Special Containment Procedures' section, see. And the rest of the article should reflect that philosophy. Have fun writing!
