Dazzle: "Throw away your gold"

This is a short story based off of 'Bed of Wealth' by Crashbox does not match any existing user name (formerly Grittz). The article was one of my favorite items that, while a bit outdated and in need of some fixing, helped spark my interest in the site during its first days.

To the Author:
Nice work, but it feels kind of incomplete. There is a lot of setup, but not much payoff.
Im fearing that you are going to just leave it like that.

But my preferences have lead me to a gigant epic without a part of it on the mainsite sooo…

(and i have no idea how throwing away gold would help (throwing away a pair of shoes dose not bring you back the money you spend on them), nor what that poem tries to do)

To adress the question at the end, aren't you jumping to conclusions?
Bee guy never said anything about souls.
Maybe he just dose not like your attitude.

I think I found the song Cad was referring to.

I like it. We don't get short, easily digestible stories about Items (not the Quasi disaster, agent e and doctor halsey). _{Btw I realize Cad's delving a bit into horror here…it's not really that obvious though…}

Also I think Meta's overthinking the piece again. I do think you can add a leeetle bit more to this tale, though.

And yeah, Meta: Just keep yer suspension of disbelief loose and open.

I believe in the unbelievable, but i dont believe we should not test it until it looks believable.

Fire could just be magic send by the gods, or it could be a chemical reaction produced by nuclear physics concerning an ideal electron configuration within tiny things called atoms.

If i ever find a screaming lighter, you bet that i would make a series of portable (intelligent) speakers out of that, given enough time and research.

High enough developed technology always looks like magic untill you test it, you make theories about it and finally can predict its behavior under any circumstances.

While it's only tangentially related to the actual story, I just have to say I like the OP's reference to Oh Wonder. You can say that I'm a fan of the duo.

Really good story, by the way. I wish there were more horror stories here.
