Why do we have this? We can not use it and do not even have it.

More interestingly: Why is that picture there? I will only accept the wildest of conspiracies as answers.

Well, because referencing SCP-173 (and to some lesser extent the other old and popular ones, i.e. the reptile, Shy Guy, Kain and Abel, the wall-man who is probably on his third or fourth rewrite now…) has become what referencing Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters has become to the Yugioh fandom: a mostly superfluous, at times cringy thing people do either out of a sense of obligation, or because they think it gives them an air of legitimacy and quality.

The actual reason for the corruption is a stupid splinter understanding Creative Commons better than the Foundation wiki. The in-universe explanation may or may not involve infohazards… something akin to "SCP-173 with a photo of SCP-096 taped to it", but worse.
