Christmas Room

Initial Discovery
3 May 2026

One would think space in an underground base is at a premium, but Base Six has a lot of rooms that are off-limits. Experiments gone wrong, private rooms for people that otherwise would sleep at their desks, that one room full with bones no one can agree on where it is. But on 3 May 2026 staff found a room with 4 Christmas trees, a model train and the fresh remains of a Christmas party. The Base Six Christmas party 2025 had happened in an entirely different room and had been cleaned up properly. The last time the Christmas Room was noted as in use was 2016, where it was used to house a not further noted "Social Function". Within the Christmas Room things are seemingly stuck in time and objects placed within which are not Christmas themed disappear. Sometimes other decor appears, the punch is changed, the number of empty eggnog cartons changes or spills appear and disappear. Strangely some staff members remember the party of 2016 differently, including finding strange stuff in the room. Sadly we were unable to find out what happens to the items, as the people setting up the party did not recall who was responsible for clearing out the objects used to test the rooms ability in 2026.

Initial Prove of Time Anomaly
4 May 2026

In a last ditch effort to find out whether the room could time travel a 25 kilo glass cube with an Insurgency Temporal Beacon was placed in the Christmas Room. The signal was supposed to activate in 2016 to alert the Insurgency in the past and restart broadcasting on 4 May 2026. After the door was closed the beacon transmitted from within the room for three and a half minutes before suddenly broadcasting from a different direction. The cube was recovered outside of Base Six buried in the ground in what appeared to be wrapping paper. The video from within the beacon shows 6 heavily drunk agents that worked in Base Six in 2016, playing with the cube and eventually using it as a seat for an out-of-base smoke break before burying it. Non of the agents in the current Insurgency recall the block, even if they do recall the smoke break.
The Christmas room is currently being investigated on whether it would be possible to send a life flash-bang through, as non of the partygoers recall being hit with a flash-bang in December 2016 and their are no medical records that would be explainable via an explosion. If all goes well we might start human trials. Just imagine how much we can win if this works. We would always know where an anomaly will show up. If we make a mistake we can just rewind the clock. Now we just need the OK from the higher ups and than the Insurgency can only go upwards.

Investigation Closed
Christmas Room has been reclassified under "Project Red Summer".
Administrative note: You can time travel anywhere, but if it is even at risk of touching 2016

DO NOT DO IT !

The control panel of the Christmas Room has been replaced with a blank dummy board and a wood panel was installed over the door and triple painted to the color of the corridor. Only a slight bump in the wall remains visible of where the door used to be.

What do you mean painted over? Time travel, in our own building. Going to a stable location filled with friendlys and the intoxicated. This is a golden ticket if I have ever seen one. Why mess with things that might be useful one day if we can win today? Red Summer seems to be some kind of terrible failure if we still bow to things that happened almost 10 years ago. I have looked into it. How do I not have clearance for it? What did you sweep under the rug so deep that a Beta clearance does not get it back topside? Talk to me. I am the Head of Staff. I asked the director and he said this comes from higher. I hope he has access to Red Summer because I do not like the idea of a Site Director Alpha clearance being overwritten or restricted by Base One. We are Base Six. There is exactly one Base that can overrule the Central Command Base Six and that is Base One.

What do you mean this came from higher than Base One? The Board of Directors? That phantom of Base Zero that kept showing up in my research? I want a name. Give me a phone number. I will not let this go and just in case they want to move me to Alaska and have my Plane disappear on the way I just dug up "Paper Trail". We have immortality on the books and someone put a big red "DISASTROUS" onto the documents, wrote "Red Summer" on it and than was it? No followup mission, no next attempt? Do you have any idea how much immortality is worth? I asked finance. From what we could pull together we could have sold access to it for 3 billion a pop. Cost for us, less than 10 bucks. What could have gone so catastrophically wrong that we would ever give that up? Names, I need names. I am very close to crying treason and trigger the appropriate protocols. If the top is rotten the Insurgency can shed its own head. Also, it mentions a Department for Internal Affairs (DIA). Funny thing is the DIA was disbanded at that point. Next funny thing no one agrees when it was disbanded. I sens a connection here. The DIA, Red Summer and 2016. If you will not help me I can keep digging. I think we still have some staff members that had Beta clearance back than here in the base.

You know, people do remember. The Zeta Cells. The independent Insurgency. The guys storing stuff that could kill us all in their basements. I even found their founding document, on our servers. Do you know how it got there? Imported from a Spanish Cell, that kept it for archival. Our own archives do not have the document. Guess what name it is. The Wintergreen Protocol. You named your coverup "Red-Summer" and the guy that started the whole thing is named Wintergreen. You know what we have about the guy? Zero, nil, no data. Guess what, things get worse from there. According to my research we just swallowed the Independent Zeta Cell and that was that. Than why I ask you did we cover it up? I tell you why. They did something. Paper Colleague was not very forthcoming with information, but I believe the only edit the file had since 2014 is a 2016 edit for Stage Eight B (Back to Reality) involving Zeta and the DIA. I don't know what that means, but I am sure there is something. You know what? I checked with maintenance. The Door was painted over, but the Head Caretaker could not show me who ordered it. Do you know how many people in this Base can delete messages send to the Caretakers? 5.
The Site director, who I assured me did not do it, the Head of Information and Communication, Werner Hiks who has greatly assisted me in digging up the Wintergreen stuff, Kim Novac the Head of Security who might have done it, but he seemed surprised that we had potential time travel in the Base, the Head Caretaker [REDACTED] and Me.
As Head of Staff one would think I would be kept in the loop, but guess what I found? My predecessor had this post for a month before I got it. This Base did not really have a Head of Staff until I got here. I asked around if that had been always the case. Fun thing that. People do not remember. Some say we had someone back in 2016 others say the base never had a Head of Staff. I told you something was fishy with my promotion. Someone higher up is pulling strings and I do not like the picture of the spiderweb I am seeing. Would be nice if there was some organization responsible, but guess what? We had something like that it was called "The Department for Internal Affairs". If you were not involved with all this you must know someone who is. There are not that many Alpha Clearances out there.

Note

He is getting to close. Do something. Just shove him in if you have to. 2016 would deal with him. If he pulls on "Null Sea", "Chocolate Specialists" or "Graveyard Machine" he might find Cataclysm International. After all we have done to keep the big Silence under wraps, your new pet might just snitch to Martin and than (Haos [DATA NOT REMOVED]) will know too. I have caught the messages before Martin got them. Luckily the guy is not in the office much.
Your trail of breadcrumbs might just get us all killed. Just pull down the wall, shove him in and let him have his answers. All of them. Answers until he drowns.

Message to the Site Director

Someone accessed the Christmas Room and I can not find our Head of Staff. If the room time travels we would have heard from him by now. What ever the room is, it needs more than plywood. I suggest taking out the door frame and bricking the room shut before something from the past comes marching out of it. I will continue to search for Josh, but I do not hold out hope. People that jump into anomalies tend to not come back.
